Talia Association aims to provide support and ensure a decent life to the most underprivileged individuals and families in our society. It mainly seeks to unleash their potential for creativity and initiative and to boost their self-confidence, their belief in their potential and their self-sufficiency. Far from being motivated by pity for people in need, Talia Association is rather motivated by the strong belief that giving a man a fish feeds him for a day; while showing him how to catch fish feeds him for a lifetime.
At Talia, we believe that empowering human beings increases their hope in a better tomorrow which they would shape with their own hands. The staff working at Talia holds the hands of those in need, guiding them along the road to achieve their aspirations, through empowerment.
Empowering a family means training, rehabilitating and preparing it to earn a career, a profession. It means financing its aspiration for a better future. The objective of empowerment is that the concerned family no longer remains a consumer, but rather becomes a productive social actor. The first step of the process is taken by the potential beneficiary family. It consists in devising a project idea, preparing a feasibility study thereon and submitting it to the Association for consideration. Should the application and the idea of the project be approved, Talia would provide a loan to the family to undertake it, with zero interest.
Criteria for approval of a request for an empowerment project
- Holder of the Lebanese nationality, or child of a Lebanese mother;
- Known for good conduct;
- Has not been convicted for a flagrant misdemeanor or a felony;
- Has financial difficulties;
- The project shall meet legal requirements;
- Is 25-65 years old;
- Has the required awareness to conduct his proposed project;
- Is the main family provider;
- Is literate (according to the project)
- Has experience in the proposed project;
- Has solvent surety.
